# Aftercare — Salty Crow Tattoo

## Derm Shield

Preparation: Gently clean and pat dry the tattoo and surrounding area. No soap or residue left on the skin. Cut Derm Shield to cover the tattoo plus a 1 to 2 inch margin. Peel backing and position adhesive side to skin. Apply with light pressure from the center out to eliminate air bubbles. Do not stretch the film.

Wear time: First application about 24 hours depending on fluid buildup (blood/fluid under the bandage is normal). A second application can be used for several days. A third if necessary. Clean and dry between applications. Do not wear any piece longer than one week.

Removal: Peel slowly from the edge back over itself. Avoid pulling upwards.

Caution: External use only. Do not apply to infected wounds. Contains adhesives; may cause allergic reactions. Discontinue if reaction/irritation occurs; see a physician if severe.

## Standard aftercare

Immediately after: Keep the bandage on about 1 hour, then remove gently. Wash with warm water and unscented antibacterial soap (Dove or Dial unscented; Cetaphil for extra caution). Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub.

Days 1 to 4: Wash 2 to 3 times per day. Very thin layer of Aquaphor or Vaseline, just enough to look slightly shiny.

Days 4 to 14 (or when peeling begins): When peeling starts and flaking turns clear, switch to Gold Bond Healing Lotion only, lightly as needed.

Do not scratch or pick. No swimming or direct sun for 2 weeks. Petroleum or oil-based products only; avoid glycerin or water-based lotions.

If something looks or feels off: stop products, let the area dry, contact the artist with a clear photo.

Full healing typically about 2 weeks.
